How did the band started out?
The band started out.... It all started out of my depressions and the will to change my world with tones, making life possible through the musical stories i felt inside of me.

Why Ska music?
Because if you wanna hear hope you understand the word upbeat, I dont need a downbeat . Ska always helped me to have the energy i needed to create and manifest happiness. So I started feeling the upbeat within my inner circle and made em move me to cope with all my problems. Ska was at this point the only music that had that energy, at least for me, to get over things.

Ska and Raggae music are often classified as part of drugs and such. What do you think about that?
I think people who say that should stop using cocaine and get a life

What are the plans for you and the band now?
Plans are not good at all because they keep you back from what you really wanna experience. But I feel that my new Album is going to lead us to new musical dimenision to create a better language for us all. The next move for the band and me is to work on the upcoming album "Pocket full of Lies and Smiles" and finishing my movie Sinner & Saints.

Lastly, do you watch WWE? If so who's your favourite?
No, I dont watch WWE :) I watch U.F.O and Paranormal Videos. Because if I get the chance to live again I will for surely become a Paranormal Investigator. I think I got the biggest collection of Ufo and Ghost videos in my area, if not in the whole Sesame Street but honestly i have a deep addiction to the Paranormal.

How did you guys go about writing the material?
We don't have a set routine for writing songs, we get together and see how the ideas flow, everyone contributes.

Of all genre why pop-punk?
We never set out to be a pop-punk band specifically, I think because we're all into that type of music when we wrote together thats how it came out!

Do you guys have an album? I dont see them on yr myspace.
We have a mini-album due for release in July.

Lastly, do you guys like eating apples?
It's been a while but I wouldn't say no to an apple right now!

Your songs are catchy and fun, who wrote them?
Well we have a couple songwriters in the band but the songs up on myspace would be Don't Fade Away - Francis, SOS - Melissa, and Now or Never was written by our old guitar player and dear friend Oscar Murden. But all of our songs kinda go through the ringer by everyone many, many times until we as a whole feels its right.

Do people look at you all in a different way because you have 2 girls in your band?
Sometimes people look at us differently but the whole girl singer thing isn't totally uncommon these days. In the case of Melissa a lot of people seem a little shocked at how talented she is as a drummer. I guess there just isn't that many girl drummers out there and very few that rock like Melissa.

Is your vocalist related to Hayley from Paramore? They kinda lookalike.
Hah, thats a nope.com. Having personally met Hayley before Kristina was in the band I can tell you they don't really look the same. Granted they are both cute girls but Hayley is a very petite girl where Kristina is a fairly tall for a girl. You know what actually they are twins that were separated at birth and I hope one day we can do a magical reunite the twins world tour together. :)

You guys are pretty popular now, what do you think is the main reason?
I am not sure how popular we are really but its great that people take the time to come and hang out at shows and message us over the net! We believe in being friendly and always taking time to meet and talk to people i think that helps :)

With more than a million plays on your playlist, how do you all feel about it?
We were super excited when it turned 1,000,000 ! We are just over the moon that this little band we started seems to be making a lot of people happy :D

Lastly, do you guys like to attack each other?
All the time, especially top off wresting in hotels on tour!

How do you guys come about with the name Martyr Defiled?
We were all on MSN, and we were pulling ideas and words that we liked the sound of! I mean, I preferred 'Raping The Christian Women', but I suppose a band is a democracy!

Euans looks scary with his beard, is he scary in real life?
No. He's the nicest guy you could ever meet - just don't talk about Bring Me The Horizon.

Any major aims or direction on yr music?
We wanna be heavy as fuck! Thats mostly what we think about when we're writing.

Lastly, is an ant or a housefly stronger?
Ant. Houseflies are pussies.

Today, while walking through the halls of my high school, me and my boyfriend shared a quick kiss. A young teacher walks by and tells us to stop due to Personal Display of Affection rules at our school. She then looks at my boyfriend and tells him he could do so much better. FML

Tell us more about the band?
We are The Upset Victory. Since our formation in early ‘06 we’ve played the Vans Warped Tour, recorded two incredibly well received EPs, signed with Take Over Digital , signed with Platform One Entertainment marketing agency, played with many national acts including A Wilhelm Scream and Four Year Strong, featured in AMP Magazines “Top 8 Bands You Should Be Blastin’!” released BOTH albums thru national and international outlets including amazon, itunes, rhapsody, napster, emusic, the orchard, Hot Topic, smartpunk, and interpunk and completely taken over our hometown, Cincinnati, Ohio USA.

Since you guys play heavy music, what do you think about other genre of music?
We love all kinds of genres. But often find genres irrelevant. We consider ourselves kind of a "mutt" band though we are indeed heavy at times we also have softer melodic parts with pop sensibilities as well. We love hard thrashing metal and rock but we also can get down to the police and rx bandits.

Currently, The Upset Victory is writing new material for our first full-length record. Expect a truly monumental tour soon thereafter!

What do you guys think about yr music?
We really enjoy playing the music we make. We've written a lot of stuff over the years and i think we're finally settling into our niche of what style of music we all want to make.

Any band aims or anything such?
The biggest band goal for all of us, is to be able to play our music for a living. This is what we love to do and wouldn't trade it for the world. So, i guess the first step towards that goal would be getting signed.

What or who influnced you guys into music?
We formed as a band way back in 10th grade in high school, so our musical influences have shifted a lot over the years, ha. But, we are of course influenced by the hardcore/metal music scene. We try to pull our influence from a lot of bands from a diverse range of genres. Why limit yourself to one style when there are so many out there?

Lastly, what do you think about this blog?
This blog is a great way to spread the word about bands that are on the rise. We love the idea and can't wait to see it grow.

As you may have noticed 2008 was quite a year for Birmingham’s Blakfish. After playing almost 200 shows in over 10 countries, releasing their mini-album “See You In Another City” on highly respected UK independent label Big Scary Monsters to much critical acclaim, receiving 4th Best British New Comer in Rock Sound readers poll, NME’s ones to watch for 2009 and a 4 K review in Kerrang.

With plans to tour more excessively than 2008 it looks like this year Blakfish are going to be even harder to ignore.
